Following a career in the software industry, I moved from a beginner to six-figure photographer in just 3 years.

I came to photography later in life - by complete accident, although with a love of creating art and music I had always been creative.
As I discuss in my talk 'The Death Zone' I got into photography as a hobby, but soon realised it was a calling and I was OBSESSED. I learned everything I could about photography, and started taking pictures everywhere I went.Â
Photography is a calming, mindful discipline and always looking for new scenes and ways to improve my images was addictive!

HELP! I'VE BECOME A PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHERÂ BY MISTAKE!
I started selling artwork in small galleries in Bristol, UK, when someone who was purchasing a canvas asked me if I would shoot their wedding!
I said 'YES', and that was that. A professional photographer by accident!
While I didn't have years of experience of photography, I DID have years of experience in starting and successfully growing a business. I also had a career in branding, technology, marketing and soon realised that these were the things I needed to make my business a success.
That success soon followed, and 3 years later my business, Nick Church Photography, was a six-figure busy Wedding and Commercial photography studio. Not the side-hustle I imagined or had the time for, so I exited my corporate career in the software industry and left the boardroom for the studio.Â

HOW DID WE GET HERE: THE BIRTHÂ OF NICK CHURCH CREATIVE ACADEMY
Due to the rapid rise of Nick Church Photography Ltd, and with awards and accolades came invites to appear on business and photography podcasts in various parts of the world.
From these podcasts, with me simply telling the story of my own journey and the things I firmly believe are CRUCIAL to how we learn, I had a LIGHTBULB moment:
I realised that I had a totally different approach to teaching than other educators; not a tidal wave of technical information in the hope some sticks, but clear, logical, building blocks of knowledge that all connect intuitively.
The result is that this WORKS - forever! My clients leave my education classes with knowledge that feels TOTALLY instinctive. They don't need to remember HOW to do things, because they know WHY they need these things.Â
I built up a suite of in-person training courses which saw attendees all reaching their goals and many becoming successful professional photographers themselves, despite arriving as beginners with no experience.
The Nick Church Creative Academy has been a long time planning, and I'm absolutely thrilled that it's finally here. A dedicated platform for all my educational content, which features online courses, memberships, digital products and more, as well as still being the place to book 1:1 coaching sessions.
